This position supports two centers: the Wolf Humanities Center and the Price Lab for Digital Humanities. The Wolf Humanities Center is Penn’s main hub for interdisciplinary humanities research and public programming. The Wolf Center hosts annual theme-based public event and fellowship programs, provides professional development opportunities for humanities faculty and students, and offers funding and promotional support for humanities events. The Price Lab for Digital Humanities supports Penn scholars who want to incorporate technology into their teaching and research, and hosts a research seminar as well as workshops and a summer training institute called Dream Lab.
Job Responsiblities
Provide staff support for two major humanities centers at Penn, the Wolf Humanities Center and the Price Lab for Digital Humanities.
Serve as a project coordinator for public events and workshops, to include working independently and efficiently with visiting guests and vendors on itineraries, payments, bookings, and all related logistics.
Promote both centers’ programs, events, and media by scheduling and executing original social media posts, assisting with graphic design for both print and web, and maintaining websites.
Oversee internal and external space bookings for the Humanities Conference Rooms, to include monitoring room requests and maintaining a shared calendar.
Staff events and provide support for day-to-day operations of both centers.
Qualifications
High School degree with 5 to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Working knowledge of Penn’s systems preferred (e.g., Ben Buys, Concur, PaymentNet).
Experience with social media management preferred; experience with podcasting and graphic design a plus.
Must work collaboratively with others, independently as necessary, and strategically with senior leadership on a wide variety of projects and programs.
Interest and/or experience with the arts and humanities appreciated.
