Position Description:
The University of Northern Iowa seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing. A Bachelor of Science nursing degree program, approved by the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is being created at the University of Northern Iowa with full implementation expected in Fall 2024.
The position works closely with the Chief Academic Nursing Administrator and includes the following responsibilities: assists in the institutional and program accreditation processes; assists in the development of a prelicensure nursing curriculum; prepares and teaches assigned courses; mentors nursing faculty; develops and/or maintains an active program of research; pursues extramural research funding; provides service to the university, the community, and the profession; and performs related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:
Doctoral degree in nursing required.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires current licensure as a registered nurse (Iowa licensure expected prior to teaching in 2024; an individual is currently licensed when licensed in another state and recognized for licensure in Iowa pursuant to the nurse licensure compact contained in Iowa Code chapter 152E).
Required qualifications include at least two years of experience in each of the following areas: clinical nursing; published research; administering and leading a nursing program (or at least five years in a nursing regulatory environment); plus demonstrated knowledge and skills in teaching a diverse student population. In addition, at least two years of teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: population/community health, pediatrics, medical-surgical, oncology, gerontology, palliative care, leadership, women’s health, mental health, informatics, or advanced nursing practice is required.
Rank will be commensurate according to current rank (assistant or associate professor) or cumulative teaching, administrative, or regulatory background experiences.
Desirable Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in securing external funding.
