Position Summary
The Mental Health Therapist/Staff Psychologist/Psychologist Candidate and Outreach Coordinator is part of a team of mental health professionals in our IACS-accredited Counseling Center dedicated to providing confidential, accessible, and culturally responsive mental health services and programs to UNC students as well as to UNC faculty/staff utilizing the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Team members tailor interventions to clients’ individual strengths and needs. This position provides individual, couples and group counseling services to a caseload of clients, as well as consultation services in support of meeting students’ academic and personal needs. This position provides guidance and support to students, staff, and faculty to ensure that community behavioral health needs are met with compassion, respect, and cultural sensitivity. This position coordinates mental health education and outreach programming for the campus community. This position is part of a team that is committed to addressing health inequities. Job Duties
45% (20 hours): This position provides crisis/drop in counseling hours and ongoing clinical mental health counseling and psychological services for students and for staff/faculty utilizing EAP services. This professional provides individual, couples, and group counseling. The position provides culturally sensitive and informed mental health assessment and services, e.g., related to developing effective treatment plans, safety plans, and making appropriate referrals for clients. This position communicates and coordinates with campus partners to serve student clients when appropriate releases of information are in place. Clinical services may be provided at the Counseling Center and/or within a liaison role in other spaces at UNC to support students with marginalized identities in increasing access to services. Licensed staff provide the above services without weekly clinical supervision, while unlicensed staff engage in weekly clinical supervision designed to support service delivery.
30% (12 hours): This position is responsible for coordinating mental health education and outreach programming for the UNC community. This position provides direct consultation and outreach services to students, faculty, staff, and campus partners related to mental health issues and student concerns. This position may serve on university committees or subcommittees to support general mental wellness initiatives within the UNC campus community or provide liaison hours to key campus partners. This position develops and presents workshops on topics related to mental health and student success, and attends campus events to promote awareness of services offered at the UNC Counseling Center. This person may have special responsibility providing consulting services as a liaison to a cultural center, resource center, athletics, or the Center for Human Enrichment.
10% (4 hours): This position maintains timely and thorough documentation of activities, maintains knowledge of ethical and legal standards of care, provides all services in keeping with these standards, and obtains appropriate continuing education to maintain professional license and develop professional skills. This position contributes to the continued development and improvement of center policies and procedures and works collaboratively with the Executive Director, Clinical Director, Training Director, Office Manager, and other clinical staff.
5%-15% (2-4 hours): This position provides ongoing consultation to other Counseling Center staff. This position consults with Center leadership routinely and stays grounded in current practices and procedures of the Counseling Center. The position exchanges relevant information with other staff so that staff in leadership roles can support supervisees related to administrative supervision. In addition, licensed staff may
As needed this position would collaborate with other Counseling Center staff to execute essential work duties of the Office Manager when the Office Manager is not available.
This position is designed to be a full-time position. However, we can accommodate candidates who wish to only work the equivalent of four days each week. In the latter case, the pay below would be prorated 80%.
Salary Range dependent on education level:
Master’s Degree – $60,694 – $64,694 Doctorate Level – $69,005 – $73,005

Background Check
