Department Summary
The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues and are trained to lead nonprofits, become educators, researchers and professionals who strengthen the diverse communities we serve with thoughtful, inclusive and equitable practices as audiologists, behavior analysts, city managers, emergency managers, health care administrators, public safety administrators, public health specialists, rehabilitation counselors, speech language pathologists, social workers, urban planners and more. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.
HPS Advising guides students from start to finish, helping them explore careers, choose their major, select courses, meet university requirements, prepare for graduation and more to ensure they have a meaningful undergraduate experience at UNT.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing guidance to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to guide students toward optimal degree fit. Connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development. This position is responsible for implementing programs related to student success and retention.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; some flexibility required as needed.
