Department Summary:
The Honors College is dedicated to enriching the undergraduate academic experience for the more than 2,000 talented, motivated, and well-prepared students who choose to be members. The goal of the Honors College is to help these students build an excellent foundation that prepares them for studying at the graduate level and establishing a career. The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a unique residential program for high school-aged Texas students who are academically advanced and interested in mathematics and science. While living on campus in McConnell Hall, students in this two-year program complete rigorous curriculum of college coursework at the University of North Texas (UNT), with instruction by university faculty.
Position Overview:
This position has primary responsibility for the Honors College Programming Council, a group of 20 Honors College students that hosts 15-20 programs per academic year, along with the Honors College Mentorship Program that works with 100-150 Honors College students per semester. This position also supports other Honors College Student Life initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent
combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service.
• Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability handle multiple priorities
• Strong attention to detail

Mon-Fri 8-5, with occasional evening or weekend events.

Honors College Programming Council (HCPC): (1) Serve as the primary contact/advisor for the council; (2) Work with faculty and staff in the programming areas (STEM, Arts, Cultures, and Student Activities) to host extracurricular events in the HC lounge and across campus, along with field trips to metroplex events and venues; (3) Recruit and assess HCPC members each academic year.
o:
Serve as primary host of Honors College Lounge space. Maintain supplies and cleanliness.
o:
Establish positive rapport with students; inviting them to Sage Hall for special events, joining them in other initiatives across campus, and hosting Honors College programs.
o:
Compile weekly engagement data for Honors College Community Engagement Recognition.
o:
Give a good public appearance about the Honors College; represent the Honors College in a positive professional manner. Give Student Life presentations when requested.
o:
Participate in professional development opportunities; continue with further educational needs. Share insights gained from classes or conferences with other staff.
o:
Mentorship Program: (1) Manages Honors College Mentorship Program and is responsible for marketing, mentor matching, assessing mentors/mentees, and programming related to said initiative; (2) Recruit mentors and mentees for the Mentorship Program each semester.
o:
Assist with Student Life marketing including newsletters, social media, etc.
o:
Function as the primary purchaser and shopper for HCPC and staff programming efforts and be responsible for all steps of the Purchasing Card/Concur process.
