Department Summary:
The UNT Talent Search Program (TS) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO Programs and is hosted through the University of North Texas. We are a college preparatory program serving select middle and high schools in the Gainesville and Denton school districts. Our purpose is to identify students who are interested in going to college and then provide them with services throughout their middle and high school years so they will be ultimately prepared for college. Our goal is to increase the number of college-degreed people in the target areas.
Position Overview:
The UNT TRIO Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Talent Search Assistant Director (Program Project Coordinator) to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Collaborates with TS Director in the planning, implementation, and logistical support in meeting program objectives. This includes keeping current on policies and regulations with relevant UNT system departments as well as ED TRIO regulations and legislature. * Oversees TS programming and activities as related to TS objectives. * Cultivates and maintains relationships with TS Director, and TS Stakeholders. * Assist in overseeing the hiring and training of TS staff. * Assist director with responsibilities in writing and submitting grant proposals and compiling data for reporting. * Manage a caseload of TS participants, providing them with mandated services via workshops, events, or field trips within the academic school year. * Will ensure that all file documentation and advisor duties are completed for caseload.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong presentation and public speaking skills.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively. Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* Master’s degree (or combination of bachelor’s degree and years of experience equivalency) in areas such as Higher Education, College Student Personnel or a related field.
* At least 2 years of experience in TRIO or TRIO-like programs or similar programs working with under-served students.
* At least 2 years of experience being familiar with grant-related policies and regulations. Experience in administering programs for TRIO-like populations is highly preferred.
Supervising and training experience are also preferred.
* Well-developed communication and presentation skills

STUDENT CASELOAD, SERVICES, DOCUMENTATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Ensures that student caseload enrollment is met and all student services are provided as per mandatory ED guidelines and UNT TS policies. Assists with caseloads at various TS schools, if needed. Oversees database documentation and accountability for TS staff members.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES, PURCHASING, BUDGET PLANNING: Will collaborate with Director in the planning, implementation and logistical support of program activities, including budgeting and purchasing to ensure all program objectives are met and UNT/ED policies are followed.

REPORTING AND GRANT WRITING: Will assist director with responsibilities in annual reporting including compiling data and ensuring that program performance reports are accurate and completed. During grant-writing time, will assist in compiling data and grant-writing tasks.

ACTIVITY/CURRICULUM PLANNING, STAFF TRAININGS: Will implement and oversee activities related to the TS program which may include administrative and technical support such as curriculum development and implementation, trip and event planning, recruitment, and trainings to ensure all program objectives are met.

TS PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with TS director, other UNT offices, and TS Stakeholders.

TS ADVISORS AND ASSISTANT TRAININGS: Assists in overseeing the hiring and training of TS Advisors and TS Assistants as well as related duties for the success of the program.
