Department Summary:
The UNT Department of History is home to the UNT Military History Center, to UNT’s Oral History Program, and to a number of digital scholarship projects. The department hosts the university’s minor in Mexican American Studies, as well as its minor and certificate in Africana Studies and the undergraduate certificate program in Food Studies. Several of our faculty members hold affiliations with the UNT Women’s and Gender Studies Program or with the Latina/o and Mexican American Studies Program. We have 35 full-time faculty members; approximately 500 undergraduate majors and minors; and 100 graduate students.
Position Overview:
The primary duty for the Office Support Associate is to manage all operations of the History Help Center. This position maintains all equipment and resources provided by the Help Center, and supervises all Help Center personnel. Other duties for this position include, but are not limited to managing operations for the History Library and managing and ordering textbooks for faculty and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Help Center Supervisor- Student Workers: Create and manage scheduling of employees in Help Center. Supervise hourly graduate student employees in Help Center. Time approver for all Graduate Student hourly employees.
o:
Help Center: Manage inventory, control and use of student used resource materials. Assist student customers who come to the Help Center for assistance. Schedule proctors for make-up exams as requested by faculty.
o:
Library: Manage operations of Departmental Library and maintain collection. Update catalog as necessary.
o:
Book Orders: Collect, submit and maintain department book orders and desk copies. Manage desk copies for Teaching Fellows and Teaching Assistants and track inventory of desk copies.
o:
Administrative: Collect syllabi each semester for department and follow-up to make sure faculty post them to Faculty Information System. Update faculty data such as phone and office numbers, etc… Manage SPOT surveys.
o:
Website: Update department website, keeping basic information up to date on ongoing basis, and work with chair, Admin Coordinator and assigned faculty to update specific information.
o:
Collect certain student records (completed exams/quizzes) from instructors, organize and securely store records until time of disposal. Act as Primary Records Retention Manager to coordinate department efforts in retention and disposal of records. Work with Department Coordinator in developing and maintaining Retention Schedule for department.
o:
Assist Chair with Annual Faculty Evaluation process
