General Description / Primary Purpose:
The Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life, under the direction of an Associate Director or above, assists in the design, development, and implementation of departmental processes and programs. The Coordinator directly advises and has frequent contact with students and student organizations. The Coordinator will also interpret and recommend policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient delivery of office programs and services.
Job Function:
– Advise individual fraternity and sorority student leaders and two governing councils; the Interfraternity Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council.
– Lead staff member for Greek Summit, Greek Awards, and National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week activities.
– Serve as the lead staff member overseeing risk management training for chapter leadership.
– Lead staff member for office-sponsored transition week programming.
– Create and implement programming, information sessions, and seminars designed to educate the fraternity/sorority community in purposeful leadership development, risk prevention, and service initiatives.
– Interpret and enforce policies and procedures related to the fraternity and sorority community and its member organizations as aligned with University, state, local, federal laws and statutes, and FIPG policy.
– Recommend policies, procedures, and practices to ensure effective coordination of office programs, education, and offerings.
– Assist with the support and implementation of the office mission, strategic plan, goals, learning outcomes, action steps, and continuous improvement.- Serve on the Chapter Accreditation Plan Review Committee; assessing the completion of Office and University expectations for all chapters.
– Collaborate and communicate with internal and external constituents/stakeholders (primarily advisors and headquarters staff members) of the fraternity/sorority community.
– Advocate for the fraternity and sorority community, its member organizations, and its growth.

Marginal Functions:
– Perform administrative duties associated with council advisement. This includes, but is not limited to, collection of required paperwork per chapter and verifying individual GPAs and student eligibility for fraternity and sorority organizations in accordance with all University, state, local, and federal laws and statutes.
– Participate in University-wide and Division-wide programming.
– Evaluate and assess current programs and needs of the fraternity and sorority community.
– Serve on relevant University committees.
– Assume other tasks and responsibilities and perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and two years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Departmental Requirements:
Master’s degree in a related field (i.e. Higher Education, Student Affairs, or Business) is strongly preferred. Membership in an international fraternity or sorority is strongly preferred. The Coordinator will share responsibility in working to ensure that the direction of the fraternity and sorority community is consistent with the mission of the University, while contributing to the overall quality of campus life. The successful candidate will share responsibility for the advancement of the UNF Fraternity & Sorority Community and be willing and available to work evenings and weekends. The Coordinator will demonstrate: excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; ability to work well with students and colleagues; knowledge of new and ongoing trends, dynamic practices and planning/programming; strong written, oral, and verbal communication skills; and solid project management and problem solving abilities and skills. The Coordinator should also have direct advising experience in regards to formal recruitment and fraternity/sorority programming efforts. Aspire to uphold UNF Values.

This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that your responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make you someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSAs responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session.
