Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The mission of the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media is to prepare students to ignite the public conversation in our state, the nation and the world, and to understand the role of communication in fostering democracy. The school offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and administers a variety of professional development and distance-learning programs. Enrollment includes about 1,000 undergraduates and 130 graduate students in addition to professional development and distance education students. Our faculty members are international thought leaders whose scholarly and creative activities are visible and respected in the public realm. |

Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for hybrid work schedule. Employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. Live Video Production / Classroom AV Specialist will work behind the scenes to grow the capabilities of Curtis Media Center as a new state-of-the-art facility. The position will work with the UNC summer camps helping high school students learn and experience live news & sports broadcasting. There will be occasional opportunities to work on national & international radio & television segments like NPR, CNN & ESPN. The position also includes operation and maintenance of classroom AV technologies throughout Carroll Hall and Curtis Media Center. The position incumbent will help ensure classroom operations and address problems as they arise. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The successful candidate must have some background in live video production and working with classroom AV systems. The position requires prior experience with video switchers, audio mixers, newsroom tools, live streaming, and broadcast graphics systems. Applicants also must have experience using Adobe Premiere & Photoshop for pre- and post-production, along with Ross Video systems Xpression, Carbonite, Mira & Inception for live production. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Candidates with prior experience with these skills will be given preference: – News management roles such as director or executive producer in any news setting. – Prior experience working with camps and clubs from an organizational perspective. |
