Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The primary purpose of Parking Operations and Campus Access Management (POCAM) is to effectively manage scarce parking and transportation resources for the University community and its visitors. The unit is responsible for planning, development, maintenance, and administration of all transportation services involving an established shuttle bus program for staff, faculty, students, and the general public. The unit conducts the planning and design of transportation services facilities and infrastructure is a liaison with other University departments, schools, and colleges, and represents the University’s transportation policies and interests with local and state agencies.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient daily operating environment of transportation services provided to the UNCG community. The Vehicle Fleet Manager is the first point of contact for 20 – 30 commercial vehicle operators regarding mechanical issues or concerns. Assist in day-to-day operations for fixed route and special event bus services, with direction from the Transportation Personnel Coordinator. This position assists in managing policy and procedure adherence, bus assignments, and inclement weather response, as well as assists in training vehicle operators. This position manages vehicle maintenance and responds to accidents and emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. REQUIRES APPROPRIATE LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS TO OPERATE ASSIGNED TYPES OF VEHICLES OR EQUIPMENT.
