Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
Campus Recreation provides a diverse and intentional recreational program in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment which enhances the social, mental, and physical well-being of the entire University community. With this mission as the focus, Campus Recreation’s program offerings include intramural sports, aquatics, sport clubs, fitness and wellness, expeditions, challenge course, open recreation, special events, climbing sports, adaptive sports, and well-being outreach.
Position Summary:
The Member Services and Events Coordinator coordinates all scheduling requests for Campus Recreation facilities including internal programs, external groups, summer camps, and other University departments and student organizations. The position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and communicating and solving complex issues with students, recreation members, and guests. All facility reservations are managed by the Coordinator through the Fusion online reservation system.
The Coordinator collaborates with Exercise and Sports Science and Athletics on scheduling events and programs in shared facilities. In addition, the position works closely with Campus Recreation staff to coordinate internal program schedules and resolve scheduling conflicts. The Coordinator is responsible for developing all user agreements, communicating facility use policies, and working with groups to ensure adherence to risk management and safety guidelines.
Events coordination is another primary responsibility for this position, and it includes coordinating all necessary aspects of event reservations including assistance with planning for space, number of participants, and event logistics. It requires collaboration with the Facility Operations Coordinator on facility preparations and logistics for each event. Evening and weekend work may be required to provide on-site support for reservations and events.
The Member Services and Events Coordinator supervises one Event and Operations intern and trains and schedules student site managers to supervise and provide support for scheduled programs and events. In addition, the Coordinator is required to teach CPR, First Aid, and AED courses to Facilities and Operations student employees and to track certifications.
This position reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
– Professional experience working in facilities and/or operations management.
– Exceptional organizational and customer service skills.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a goal-oriented team.
– Current instructor certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
– Professional experience with facility scheduling and scheduling software such as Fusion.
– Demonstrated ability to train and supervise student employees
Special Physical/Mental Requirements :
– Weekend and evening work may be required.
– Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
