Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The Carolina Center for Public Service (CCPS) engages and supports the faculty, students and staff of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in meeting the needs of North Carolina and beyond. CCPS strengthens the university’s public service commitment by promoting scholarship and service that are responsive to the concerns of the state and contribute to the common good.
Position Summary:
The Carolina Center for Public Service seeks a creative, enthusiastic, and organized individual for the position of Community Engagement Educational Consultant. The Community Engagement Educational Consultant will offer feedback to student recipients of community engagement fellowships, in academic course contexts and/or in individual or team meetings through office hours. The Community Engagement Educational Consultant will be an external resource for students participating in the Robert E. Bryan Fellowship and the Scott D. MacDonald Community Fellowship.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in education, special education, instructional design, educational technology, educational media, or related discipline with coursework in curriculum development or learning theory; or a Bachelor’s degree in the assigned discipline and two years of experience in teaching, educational testing, or instructional design and curriculum development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
-Exceptional written and oral communication skills, along with demonstrated leadership skills.
-Experience in community engagement and nonprofit leadership.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
A thorough knowledge of nonprofit organizations and community engagement with an emphasis on working with schools and educational organizations.
