Position Summary |
The Accounting Technician position reports directly to the Business Services office within Campus Operations. They will work daily with internal department managers, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Budget and Finance, and external vendors. By providing Campus Operations with necessary business services, this person helps the staff and managers concentrate on their core mission of maintaining campus buildings, landscaping, and infrastructure. The Accounting Technician processes invoices and prepares them for manager approval and forwards them to Accounts Payable for payment. They enter requisitions into Banner/Bulldog Buyway for purchase order generation and tracking of departments’ expenditures. To enable timely notification of the stock quantities of parts for repairs, this person will input sales orders, parts receipts from vendors and miscellaneous transactions into the facilities work order application. The Accounting Technician also assists in the preparation of end-month billings for Stores, UPS, and Mail Services charges. Other important functions performed by the employee include working with vendors to resolve invoice and shipment problems, managing the petty cash and receipt book, supporting the annual inventories, and researching information for RFP contracts. Being a valuable member of Campus Operations team, this position provides basic support for Customer Service, Design & Construction and their supervisor when needed. |

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills |
Associate Degree with coursework in basic accounting and 3-5 years of work experience as an accounting technician. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with equivalent experience is a plus. |
Work Schedule and Hours |
Typical hours are Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional additional hours as needed to meet the needs of the department. |
