The University of New Mexico (UNM) Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, highly skilled research administrator professional for the role of Sponsored Projects Manager to join our team of professionals. (hybrid work options available).

Our office operates in a collaborative environment providing support and assistance with proposal submission and management of successfully awarded projects. We work closely with faculty, department administrators and support staff across the Main and Branch campuses to ensure project success and compliance throughout the sponsored projects lifecycle.
We are looking to hire two positions. The OSP manager, is a management position in research administration with university wide scope. Under administrative direction it will support one of the following core functional areas: a) proposal review and submission process, or b) award review, negotiation, set up and management of modifications to awards through the end of the lifecycle. The OSP manager reports directly to the Director of Sponsored Projects and will provide operational direction, leadership, and oversight to the OSP Proposal or Award teams.
Responsibilities include, ensure University compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and requirements. Management and oversight of the day-to-day activities and work assignments of staff in the proposal/award teams. Responsible for ongoing process efficiencies; mentoring, leading, guiding and training of staff. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and staff engaged in sponsored research activities; and have highly developed diplomatic communication skills.
The position requires an in-depth knowledge of pre-award and non-financial post award research administration, Uniform Guidance and knowledge of various sponsored agency policies, standards, and procedures. Extensive experience in managing professional level staff to maintain a positive work culture and environment that values a balance of compliance and customer service, while working to meet high standards of quality.
The OSP Manager represents the department on various committees and may provide training to departments on research administration policies and procedures. The OSP manager will have prior experience with human resources management, including recruitment, performance reviews, and all aspects of performance management such as coaching, performance improvement plans, and other employee relations matters.
Bachelor’s degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
