ROLE of the POSITION
Housed in the Department of Geoscience, the UNLV-FIA Information Management Research Group has been federally-funded as a research program since 1998. Our group has partnered with the Research & Development division of the USDA Forest Service to provide data management, analysis solutions, and programming support for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) National Program, which researches and reports forest trends in the United States. The purpose of this position is to provide analysis, design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of FIA information management systems and applications. Responsibilities include: full-stack application development and programming, computer systems analysis, and quality assurance. Duties include stakeholder engagement (e.g., requirements gathering), design and prototyping, testing, technical documentation, and application of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. SQL and/or SQLite skills are needed to maintain, create, and retrieve information from relational databases. Familiarity with database architecture is desired but not required. This is a fixed-term position based on 97.5% FTE with potential for promotion to a full-time position.

NOTE: This position will work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 1 year of experience is required to apply. A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred but not required. Similar work experience, technical skills, or relevant certification may be considered in place of a Bachelor’s degree. The ability to pass a federal background check and obtain and maintain the credentials necessary to access the federal network and tools is required for this position.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
