ROLE of the POSITION
The Graduate Student Financial Services department is excited to invite dynamic applicants for the role of Graduate Assistant & Fellowship Program Coordinator (“Coordinator”). Reporting to the Director of Graduate Financial Services, the Coordinator serves as part of a dynamic team responsible for the successful annual hiring and onboarding of over 1,300 Graduate Assistants (“GAs”). The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all prospective GAs meet hiring requirements and are hired correctly. The Coordinator is responsible for the critical role of ensuring accurate coding of GAs in the student information system (MyUNLV), processing tuition and health insurance waivers, reconciling third-party contracts, and other responsibilities inherent to this position. The Coordinator provides critical campus outreach by providing training to faculty and staff on Graduate Assistant-related policies and the e-systems and initiatives related to Graduate Financial Services. The Coordinator monitors GA activities, including eligibility, accuracy, and progress with routine report review and auditing.
The Graduate Assistant & Fellowship Program Coordinator is the subject matter expert on the Graduate Assistantship Program within the Graduate College and will assist in the development and implementation of procedures designed to aid in streamlining the GA program to make processing efficient as possible. The Coordinator also works closely with the Director of Graduate Financial Services on GA strategic planning and implementation.
The Graduate Assistant & Fellowship Program Coordinator is a valued resource and advocate for GA student services, working closely with Financial Aid, Human Resources, Payroll, Cashiering & Student Accounts, Office of Sponsored Programs, the UNLV Foundation and Controller’s Office on matters that relate to Graduate Assistants, and Scholarship/Fellowship Awardees. Along with the duties related to the Graduate Assistantship Program, the Coordinator is responsible for assisting with other areas of Graduate Financial Services such as scholarships, fellowships, and awards. Finally, while the primary focus of this position is the Graduate Assistantship Program, it is important that the individual in this position also be well versed and knowledgeable in all areas of Graduate Financial Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3-5 years of related professional experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is preferred. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
