About the Position
The Department of Curriculum and
Instruction in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities invites applicants for a Contract
Teaching Professor position at the Assistant or Associate rank.
The successful applicant will be a field-shaping leader with
expertise in social justice-oriented, critical, and innovative pedagogy and learning design efforts centered on the integration of online
and digital technologies in authentic learning settings. The search committee seeks a diverse applicant pool and candidates from a wide
variety of disciplinary backgrounds. Potential areas of expertise can include, but are not limited to, learning sciences;
instructional/learning design; open, online, or distance education; critical digital pedagogy; human computer interaction and design;
connected learning; or social media and learning. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with
colleagues and students from a wide range of cultural, disciplinary, and academic backgrounds.
This is a full-time, 9-month,
non-tenure-track position. Applicants must have earned a doctorate before the start date. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will
be commensurate with experience.

The primary responsibility for this contract faculty position is
teaching/advising. Additional duties are focused on service and engaged scholarship. Traditional academic research is not a required
component of this position, but evidence of engagement in teaching and learning scholarship that advances practice(s) in the field will be

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is
committed to promoting social justice and dismantling racial, socioeconomic, gender, and language injustices in education. We actively work
to eliminate barriers and obstacles created by institutional discrimination. We are also committed to developing future teachers,
practitioners, technologists, and researchers who are equipped to identify and challenge systems and structures of racism and oppression in
the field, locally and globally. This contract faculty member will have an appointment in the department’s Learning Technologies program
area.
The Learning Technologies program is academically robust and consists of an undergraduate minor, Master’s of Education, a
Master’s of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Undergraduate courses are offered that explore the philosophy of technology and its
ethical implications in society, digital culture and learning, advanced practices in networked technologies for professional and educational
environments, and elevating the use of social media for learning purposes. Graduate-level courses focus on theoretical and practical
foundations in the interdisciplinary fields of learning technologies, advanced practices in open, online, and distance education, social
presence and online learning communities, critical digital pedagogy and learning design, learning analytics and social network analysis, K12
computer science education, and K12 technology integration.
