work. The Boynton Health clinic with the University of Minnesota at the Minneapolis College site is seeking an enthusiastic and committed
provider to join us as we respond to the growing demand for chemical health services on campus. This full- time position will be employed by
Boynton Health but working at the satellite clinic at Minneapolis College five days per week.
The Program Coordinator will lead this
program through continuing to build a campus-based infrastructure to empower students in recovery by providing support, connecting students
with resources, and promoting academic excellence. The coordinator is a Campus Security Authority and is required to report certain crimes
they become aware of.
Ideal candidates should have strong clinical skills and leadership skills, demonstrate ability to work
effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, and genuine commitment to support the campus goals of creating a
positive and inclusive campus climate for all by advancing equity and diversity.
This is a continuous 9-month
appointment.
Detailed Job Responsibilities:
1) Coordination of Collegiate Recovery Programs (35% of the
time)
a) Provide overall coordination of day-to-day operations for Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) at Minneapolis College
to
support student recovery.
b) Plan, develop, direct and manage a program of comprehensive services related to recovery service
and serve as the main
point of contact for the CRP program to ensure consistent support.
c) Meet with students to support them in
their academic and recovery journey.
d) Recommend relevant internal and external resources to aid in student retention and
completion.
2) Clinical Services (20% of the time)
a) Assesses/evaluates CRP participants to determine their recovery status and
needs. This is achieved by: reviewing histories,
observing and interviewing, and administering assessment/evaluation
instruments.
b) Designs, plans, and conducts individual and group recovery sessions to support CRP participants’ level of
functioning.
This is accomplished by: observing and interviewing, discussing students’ challenges and recommending a plan of
corrective
action.
c) Consults with CRP participants and providers about community follow-up services for students to ensure
continued
success. This is achieved by: assessing needs and advising community personnel and students on appropriate solutions.
3)
Programming (20% of the time)
a) Develop, sponsor, organize and facilitate ongoing education and awareness opportunities relative to
recovery to aid in
awareness about recovery and CRP. This includes, but is not limited to workshops, speakers, trainings and large
events.
b) Collaborate with other departments to provide ongoing education and awareness to the Minneapolis College community.
c)
Manage projects, including complex projects and large projects that involve numerous internal departments or community
entities and
assess processes to identify need for improvements or modifications. Such projects and programming may include monthly or regular workshops;
large scale events; developing relationships with partner colleges, universities, and other institutions. These events will be open to the
public and university community and will serve to introduce both institutions to external community members who might not otherwise become
familiar with the institutions.
4) Supervision (15% of the time)
a) Provide work direction, training and support to up to two FTE
interns and/or up to 4 Recovery Corps (AmeriCorps) members to support students in recovery.
b) Assign work tasks, approve timesheets
and other tasks to ensure day-to-day operational needs are maintained.
c) Other relevant duties and tasks to guide interns or Recovery
Corps members.
5) Retain administrative records and data for program and maintain participant records (5% of the time)
a) Assign
record keeping functions to staff members.
b) Supervise staff to ensure proper data collection on each individual participant.
c)
Review participant files to ensure proper data collection.
d) Ensure that intake and activity forms into the computerized data
base.
e) Establish, initiate, and coordinate follow up activities.
f) Design administrative files to include records of
expenditures, budget reports, purchase records, and project evaluation and
performance reports.
6) Perform other duties as
assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the
organizations as viable business
partners (5% of the time)
Workplace Safety
Actively participate in required and optional safety training and drills required by
Boynton Health and Minneapolis College.
Proactively address the safety of all by raising safety concerns and making safety improvement
suggestions.
If applicable to this position, perform all job tasks in accordance with university procedures, utilizing required tools,
equipment and personal protective equipment.
Report all injuries and incidents prior to the end of the day during which the incident
occurs.
Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed
effectively.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS plus at least two years of
experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6
years.
* Experience in planning, conducting and
evaluating one-time educational workshops and training sessions on
various topics related to chemical health for audiences that would
include students, staff, parents etc.
* Experience in supervising staff and/or interns.
* Skills in judgment and decision-making,
problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the
actions to improve performance.
* Written and oral communication
skills and computer application skills sufficient to prepare reports, correspondence,
conduct program evaluations and other relevant
documents
* Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.
* Excellent interpersonal
skills and the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a diverse population in a positive,
courteous, helpful manner to deliver
services and experience with programs serving students from a diverse
backgrounds.
* The ability to work independently and manage
multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master’s Degree and/or Peer Recovery Specialist
*
Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs and Knowledge of retention issues in higher education
* Training in grant funded projects
*
Experience supervising a CRP or recovery program
* Knowledge of CRP operation
* Experience working with individuals from diverse racial,
ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
