The goal of the prevention program is to develop and provide evidence-based sexual misconduct prevention curriculum and training to University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff as well as external community members. The Prevention Program Coordinator is responsible for curriculum development and outreach which results in an increased ability and efficacy for our campus to intervene in problem situations and also to prevent and respond to sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment.
The Prevention Program Coordinator must able understand and engage in evaluation techniques to assess the education curriculum. The success of the program requires the coordination of multiple components that reinforce each other: education/training sessions, event programming, media campaigns, and social media. The coordinator will work with multiple departments across the campus to establish goals, implement education and activities, and evaluate effectiveness.
The Prevention Program Coordinator is a full time (100% FTE) Professional and Academic (P&A) position at The Aurora Center. This position reports to the Associate Director of The Aurora Center.
Detailed job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Outreach & Education: (40%)
* Develop, coordinate, and implement education/training for faculty, staff, students and external community members regarding sexual misconduct awareness, prevention, intervention, bystander education, intersectional identities and sexual misconduct, and social environment shaping (BEST Model).
* Set evidence-based priorities for sexual misconduct prevention, bystander education, intersectional identities, and social environment shaping, with guidance and oversight from department manager.
* Develop, coordinate, and implement a new social environment shaping curriculum (BEST Model).
* Serve as campus information source for faculty, staff and students regarding sexual misconduct awareness, prevention, intervention, bystander education, intersectional identities and sexual misconduct, and social environment shaping.
* Serve as a trainer of trainers for staff and volunteers.
* Plan, develop, and implement training content as needed for addressing cultural and special needs of groups.
* Use, maintain, and update existing education curriculum to continue to reflect the issues and its effectiveness on the college campus.
* Develop, coordinate, and implement educational programs and events (i.e. speakers, film showings, tabling, Spring Jam participation, awareness campaigns) for Domestic Violence Awareness Month & Sexual Assault Awareness Month for sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking prevention and Bystander Education for the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (U of M) campus.
* Establish partnerships with student groups, departments, and offices across campus to raise awareness and provide training
Supervision & Student Development: (30%)
* Supervise the Violence Prevention Educators (VPE’s)
o Provide on-going mentorship & training
o Conduct entrance interviews
o Complete mid-year performance reviews
o Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate practices for VPEs to prepare for each upcoming presentation.
* Supervise the Violence Prevention Education Student-Staff
o Write position description in collaboration with other staff
o Select applicants to be interviewed
o Interview applicants
o Make hiring decision
o Conduct performance reviews
o Aid in professional development/discipline
Administrative: (20%)
* Develop strategic plan for sexual misconduct prevention program and ensure execution and implementation in keeping with the mission of the program and the U of M
* Generate annual report detailing prevention programming activities
* Provide leadership and coordination to various sexual misconduct prevention campus committees through facilitating meetings, regular communication, strategic planning, and program development.
* Oversee program evaluation and provide reports of sexual misconduct prevention education.
* Coordinate marketing for sexual misconduct prevention programs
* Purchase supplies for sexual misconduct prevention programs
Client Services: (10%)
* Serve as back-up staff to provide assistance to drop-in clients during business hours
* Serve as staff on call backup on rotation with other Aurora staff
* Facilitate any appropriate victim/survivor support groups
* Demonstrate and maintain professional boundaries in working with volunteers and clients.
* Maintain a strict policy of confidentiality.
* Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate.

* Associate Director of The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education
Salary:
$48,000-43,000
Minimum Requirement:
* Bachelors Degree with at least 4 years of experience (post bachelors) in gender studies, sociology, social work, public health, education, social sciences, human services, psychology or related fields.
* At least one year of experience planning, conducting, and evaluating education and training programs in a large community.
* At least one year of supervision experience.
* Completion of 40 hour State Certified Sexual Assault Training Program
* Practical experience and theoretical knowledge about masculinity and gender equity, as well as an understanding of an oppression-based model of violence against genders.
* Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, staff and community people from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
* Effective oral and written communication skills to work collaboratively with clients, co-workers, and University and community partners
* Experience working in environments where confidentiality is required
* Excellent organizational skills
* Demonstrated judgment and ability to identify and prioritize high risk situations and inform appropriate channels
* Ability to meet deadlines; handle multiple, complex, and abstract tasks; be detail-oriented; and work independently as well as part of a team.
* Strong technology skills (presentation software, word processing, social media).
* Able to work variable hours; some evenings and/or weekends may be required to conduct trainings.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master’s Degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, public health, education, social sciences, psychology, or related to gender work.
* Teaching and supervisory experience.
* Experience in evaluation and assessment.
* Experience with group coordination, advising, and leadership, such as with a peer education group.
* Understanding of University/college systems and resources
