Summary
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is one of thirteen divisions within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School with over 130 instructional, clinical and research track faculty, clinical management of eight inpatient services. Faculty from the Division provide clinical management of the Cardiac Procedures Unit, six Ambulatory Care Units, contracted services in West Michigan, and Cardiology services at the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. The Division has robust research and teaching programs, with in excess of $20M in annual sponsored research funding, and five ACGME accredited and two non-accredited training programs. Additionally, many of our faculty hold administrative positions throughout the Medical School and the VA.
The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Division Administrator for the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. In partnership with the Chief, the Division Administrator manages the fiscal, personnel, operational and administrative activities of this division. The Division Administrator also provides leadership to ensure implementation of the Division’s strategic plan as well as development of business plans for new programs. In addition, the Division Administrator directs and manages the operations of the academic and clinical programs for all administrative and business functions, including space planning and utilization. The Division Administrator represents the Chief and the Department at institutional and extramural meetings.

Responsibilities*
Financial
Ensure the Division maintains strong fiscal health across all missions (clinical care, research funding, and teaching programs) by the following:
Research Administration
Direct the Division’s research administration functions, including financial activities (pre-/post-award), submission and reconciliation processes, and identification of new funding opportunities
Clinical Operations
Collaborate with ambulatory and hospital leaders to ensure facilities and units are high-functioning and allow clinicians to provide the best care and research opportunities for our patients
Human Resources & Faculty Affairs
Ensure our faculty and staff have adequate resources and support to perform at their best
Other
Supervision Received:
Direction is received from the Division Chief for Cardiovascular Medicine and the Chief Administrative Officer for the Department of Internal Medicine, with a direct reporting relationship to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct functional and administrative supervision is exercised over managers and administrative staff within the Division.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
