Summary
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), the world’s largest archive of social science data, is now accepting applications for a Data Project Assistant to assist with training and outreach website support, and project management. The project assistant will divide their time between the Social, Behavioral, & Economic COVID Coordinating Center (SBECCC) and the Health and Medical Care Archive (HMCA).
You will report to the SBECCC Data Project Manager and some travel (less than 10%) is required.
Responsibilities*
The major responsibilities include:
Training, Outreach, and User/Client Support
You will assist with a variety of outreach-related tasks, including planning and providing support for data trainings in multiple formats. You will handle user support and restricted data applications. You will assist with data sharing activities including planning, promoting, and hosting webinars, developing data release announcements, developing and distributing newsletters, and planning conference exhibits. You’ll lead planning efforts for SBE CCC’s annual meeting, including setting the schedule, selecting a venue, coordinating logistical arrangements, and managing the event budget. You’ll also help to create new data sharing-related resources.
Website and Social Media Content Support
You will assist Project Managers and work with the ICPSR web team to keep website content updated. You will help plan and create data resources and other website content, manage content for social media accounts, web announcements, and Google Analytics dashboards for periodic reports; help expand the Bibliography of data- related resources; and conduct periodic, regular website testing. You’ll also work with the ICPSR Marketing and Communications team to create publicity materials such as fliers and social media graphics.
Project Support
You will assist Project Managers with a variety of project management tasks, including documenting project activities and creating progress and usage reports; answer user support inquiries and assist with project sponsor inquiries; assist with scheduling meetings and meeting logistics, compiling call summary notes, and tracking project activities. You will also work on a variety of special assignments.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree.
2+ years of related experience.
Interest in social science research and/or experience working in a research setting.
Experience coordinating events.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience with social science, education, or health data.
User support or customer service experience.
Experience with or general knowledge of statistical processing software such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata.
Experience conducting outreach and coordinating webinars.
Experience with website and social media content development (especially content related to research and scholarship).
Experience producing content for external audiences.
Work Locations
You will work on-site at the University of Michigan offices in Ann Arbor, with flexible scheduling and remote opportunities made available within our overall Center policies.
