Summary
Student Services Assistants provide general administrative and clerical support for the College of
Business Student Services Office. This position is the first responder for incoming phone calls, walk-in traffic, and the Virtual Drop-In Queue. It provides customer service to students, employees, and
visitors. Primary duties include answering phone calls, scheduling advising appointments, monitoring the virtual queue, and providing
general information. Additional duties of an office nature may be assigned as needed. This position utilizes various software. Knowledge of
Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Training will be provided in navigating Google Calendar and the University systems you’ll use, such
as Salesforce.
The Student Services Assistant is expected to function within the established guidelines regarding office procedures
and scheduling of work. The candidate must be punctual and dependable, be able to multitask, communicate effectively in person and over the
telephone, and display appropriate office behavior. Familiarity with the UM-Dearborn website is necessary. Previous experience in an office
setting is preferred, but not required.
This is an on-campus position located in the College of Business in the Fairlane Center South
building to run from May – August of 2022, with the possibility of extending into future semesters. Shifts will be a minimum of four hours,
or a maximum of eight hours, Monday throughThursday, with the possibility of Friday being added later in the summer. Applicants must be
eligible to work in the United States.
