The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a 9-month,
nontenure-track, teaching assistant professor position from chemists specializing chemistry education. This promotable, renewable position
is part of the recently funded HHMI Driving Change Initiative at UMES and will work with the School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences
STEM Center Director and chemistry faculty in the Department of Natural Sciences to develop strategies fostering student learning and
success in chemistry and teach undergraduate and graduate (MS) courses in support of the chemistry and biochemistry programs.
We seek
a chemistry educator who is committed to teaching excellence and successful student learning outcomes who can help guide and transform the
undergraduate curricula that serves a diverse student body across the UMES campus. Teaching responsibilities may include general chemistry
and courses in the candidate’s field of expertise. Candidates may pursue scholarship focusing on curricular design, student
interventions, active learning, or other areas related to student success in the chemical sciences.
Candidates should hold a doctoral
degree from an accredited institution at the time of hire and have a record of teaching, scholarship of teaching, and service in the
chemical sciences.
