This position is filling a vacancy
for an Academic Advisor in the Department of Computer Science. This is the largest major on campus that includes 3000+ undergraduate
students.
The person in this role will advise a large caseload and work on various administrative tasks both in academic affairs
and student affairs. These tasks can include, but are not limited to: degree clearances, prerequisite checks, course permissions, student
supervision, workshops, events, and orientation.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education and student services. Proficiency using Microsoft Office/Google Suite, professional
presentation software and/or database usage. Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills. Must be self-motivated,
detail-oriented and a problem solver. Strong customer service, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team
environment. Possess enthusiasm and a positive approach to work, ability to build excellent rapport with students, and a commitment to their
educational development. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact. Some evening and weekend work is
required.
Preferences: Master’s degree in higher education or related field. 3 – 5 years of
experience in higher education or student services, or at least 1 year of academic advising. Knowledge of campus degree requirements,
especially those related to computer science.
