Physical Requirements:

The essential functions for include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, the hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift:

May include day, evenings, night, and/or swing; will also be required to work some weekends, holidays and specialty call as needed.

Job Summary:

The Service Line Lead Surgical Tech provides technical support for the Urology teams by ensuring all equipment, materials and instruments are operable and available the day of surgery; prepares the room for the case; trains providers in the proper setup and use of the equipment, materials and instrumentation; works collaboratively with the Central Sterile Processing Department and communicates with all outside vendors for the assigned specialty area; and maintains active communication among interdepartmental staff, Physicians and service line team members. The Service Line Lead Surgical Tech shall be a proficient Surgical Technologist in their specialty area and shall function in the scrub role to facilitate flow of surgical cases when needed. The role will report directly to their service-area aligned Service Line Manager/UKHC.
