This position provides leadership for the Service Activity functions
of the office. Additionally, this position provides oversight and support for Fringe Benefit rate proposals, Facilities & Administrative
(F&A) indirect cost rate proposals, Tuition Remission rates, Cost Accounting Standards Board Disclosure Statement, CRIS software,
response to audit issues, and special requests for information, as applicable. In addition, this position assists in ensuring compliance
related to all costing functions in accordance with Federal regulations, including the Code of Federal Regulations Title 2 Part 200 Uniform
Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.

Additional responsibilities include:

1. Provide leadership for service activity functions to University departments in the development of service
   center rates. Includes service rate reviews, instructor led service activity certificate track, service activity policy, and participation
   on service rate committees as requested.
2. Provides oversight and support for tuition remission rate calculations.
3. Provides
   oversight and support for fringe benefit rate studies.
4. Provides oversight and support in the preparation of the University of
   Illinois F&A indirect cost rate studies. Includes but is not limited to developing and implementing space studies (as applicable) and
   reviewing account attributes for accuracy when assisting in calculation of the F&A cost rate studies.
5. Provides support in the
   utilization of the third party “Comprehensive Rate Information System” software used to calculate the F&A rate proposals and University
   Administration Calculation for all three Universities.
6. Provides supervision and mentoring to coordinators.
7. Provides
   support to campus departments regarding federal costing issues, including faculty and administrators. Includes keeping abreast of federal
   cost principles and regulations.
8. Assists in preparation of responses to audit findings, special reports, and requests for
   information.
9. Participates in establishing and revising campus costing policies as needed. Includes providing recommendations for
   such policies and monitoring of policies to maintain compliance with Federal regulations.
10. Presents training to System Government
    Costing staff and University personnel on costing matters affecting indirect cost, fringe benefit, tuition remission rates, and service
    activities.
11. Participates in reengineering and development of University systems as needed.
12. Other duties and
    responsibilities as appropriate for an Assistant Director position.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Preferred:

1. Master’s degree and/or CPA
   certification

Knowledge and Experience:

• Five years experience in accounting or related field,
  preferably in a complex academic or governmental environment;
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in an integrated team
• Experience designing, developing and delivering training to a diverse audience
• Experience using reporting tools to create queries and maintain reports
• Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to
  make solid decisions and recommendations
• Ability to communicate complex information in layman’s terms
• Detail oriented with
  consistent accuracy
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Business Objects, Web Intelligence, Word)
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and is a self-starter
• Demonstrated proficiency using SCT Banner tables for data
  collection and analysis
• Comprehensive knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles.

Preferred Knowledge
and Experience:

• Working knowledge of Federal and State of Illinois policies and procedures for the conduct of sponsored
  programs
• F&A indirect cost rate calculation knowledge
• Experience in auditing and database use, including complex
  querying.
