Job Description:
The Academic Program Specialist
(APS) is a full-time, time-limited, and grant funded position under the direction of the Director for the Office of Academic Support (OAS)
within the division of Undergraduate Affairs. This position depends on grant funding and renews every five years, just renewed in 2020.
Responsibilities of the position include assisting in the overall implementation of the University of Florida- Student Support Services
(UFSSS) academic success program, which aims to achieve the vision and objectives of the program. In addition, the APS serves as a valuable
member of the UF TRIO SSS team who helps students achieve success by participating in coaching sessions, coordinating academic and
academic-related programs, extracurricular events, and overall strategic planning.
Primary responsibilities include providing
general academic advising/counseling and learning support using a case management approach, inputting and maintaining UFSSS database and
records, recruitment and orientation of student participants, monitoring and tracking students’ academic progress, program assessment,
supervising student staffers, coordinating appropriate resources/services/events, presenting workshops, teaching first-year experience
courses and preparing/maintaining center materials.
The APS will be expected to assist in integrating the TRIO project with existing
programs, services, and initiatives within OAS. This position provides direct support services as outlined by the TRIO-Student Support
Services Grant, to program participants and assists in reviewing student applications and determining program eligibility and enrolling
students in the UFSSS Program. The APS will provide student-centered, proactive interventions to promote academic achievement and enrollment
retention. Assist in data collection and analysis for grant reporting purposes. Assist project directors in meeting and evaluation program
outcomes, in planning and providing UFSSS services and activities.
The position requires an experienced individual that is
self-motivated with knowledge in program assessment and implementing student success initiatives designed to accomplish goals and objectives
of a student success program. The ideal candidate will understand student development and have interest in advising/counseling students,
assisting students in overcoming barriers and aiding students in obtaining academic achievements and career planning. This position requires
excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse students, parents, administrative staff, and faculty.

Salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience. The university offers an excellent benefits

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
