The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership to identify opportunities for advancing the centers vision and mission and will collaboratively work with the leadership team (center director and co-director) to ensure appropriate resource allocation. The Executive Director also will interface with any assessment personnel to help evaluate the centers performance and identify areas for improvement.The Executive Director will play a vital role in efforts to interface with key educational and industrial partners, and other similar centers. The Executive Director also will contribute to or lead internal and external proposal activities, as appropriate, to support the centers mission. The Executive Director is expected to pursue peer-reviewable research opportunities related to student outcomes, outreach engagement, and other comparable activities that may span the Colleges of Engineering and Arts & Sciences.The Executive Director must work closely with the research leadership of the center, the administrative assistant associated with the center, the financial administrator, the education director, program coordinator, and tech transfer personnel. Additionally, the Executive Director must be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders (including College and University leadership), when appropriate, to represent the center and its activities.The Executive Director must work with our current (and future) external university partners, relevant K-12 organizations, national laboratory partner associated with our Center for Neutron Science, and professional organizations that can aid our recruiting, outreach, and scientific efforts. The Executive Director must establish and maintain contacts with regional industry and government to cultivate high-level strategic relationships and to maintain and enhance external financial support, when practical. Major Responsibilities: Coordinate management and planning of center activities, and assessment of such activities, in close collaboration with the center director and co-director.Lead center strategic planning activities in close collaboration with the center director and co-director.Lead formulation of educational and outreach initiatives, in collaboration with the centers co-director and education director.Direct and implement efforts to develop or strengthen external strategic partnerships for the center that consider the center mission and vision, along with market demand and future trends.Identify new program initiatives and write proposals as necessary to accomplish the centers mission/vision.Present outcomes related to center activities in oral and written form, and represent the center as needed in an internal and external leadership capacity.Collaborate with center director and co-director in center (re)budget activities.Engage in strategic initiatives (e.g., partnership development) with our current partners, as well as potential future partners. (This may involve travel.)Direct efforts to raise the visibility and reputation of the center programming (including website development), aligning with programmatic marketing efforts in coordination with development, research office, and college as necessary.Assist in integration with assessment activities and interpretation of assessment reports.Participate and interact with on-campus and off-campus individuals and organizations to continuously develop proactive strategies to increase student success, e.g., high school personnel, corporate and government representatives, counterparts at other institutions, industry partners, etc.Oversee efforts such as student seminars, colloquia, professional and career-related development workshops, etc.Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Masters degree in science, engineering, administration, or other related field and at least seven years progressively responsible experience in undergraduate and/or graduate academic support programs and strategic partnership development, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with science and engineering entities is preferred. Advanced knowledge of higher education curricula, policies & procedures, and student services resources, along with experience in proposal writing and familiarity with computer software systems is highly desirable.Advanced knowledge and understanding of best practices and trends in student recruitment and retention at the university-level is preferred.Cross-cultural expertise within diverse institutional collaborations.Previous leadership and mentorship in interdisciplinary experiential learning programs.Ability and desire to publish and present peer-reviewed research related to center education and outreach activities.Ability to independently develop, organize and manage high profile and/or groundbreaking projects, as well as conduct systematic analysis and develop solutions to complex problems.Knowledge of organizational development theory and practices and strategic planning skills.
