Position Overview:
Design, develop, plan and market campus events and venues, including logistical needs, resource allocation, and records management. Prioritize and allocate resources, develop and maintain positive customer/donor relationships, and enforce safety protocols.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Manages the construction, installation, placement and rigging of the scenery for UCO’s University Productions and Mitchell Hall Theatre. Plans and organizes scenic construction projects and instructs and supervises student workers in the construction of theatre scenery. Works closely with undergraduate students in hands-on production learning environment to provide a comprehensive learning and safe environment for students. Creates necessary drafting to build scenic elements. Performs general maintenance and upkeep of shop machinery and tools. Supervises and instructs student employees and lab students including, but not limited to the following areas: Proper tool usage and safety, proper carpentry and welding techniques, proper installation and rigging regulations. Creates construction drafting for PAC productions using AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks, Responsible for the technical coordination of crews of load-in, load out and running of University Productions and Broadway Tonight Events, including installation, rigging and student crews. Responsible for managing construction, maintenance, and student wage budgets. Plans and supervises the construction, load-in, tech, and strike of all productions. Reviews, updates and maintains shop supplies and consumables. Manages prop and scenic storage, inventory database, and rentals. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and timekeeping for student Scene Shop workers. Responsible for maintaining Scene Shop tools and equipment including making necessary repairs to pneumatic and other power tools. Maintains day to day shop safety and the safety of employees and lab students. Establishes and maintains a safe, educational working environment. Makes recommendations for future technology upgrades within the department. Stays current in field with continued educational opportunities. Other faculty and staff members of CFAD department with the permission of the Director of University Productions may request tasks to be performed, if necessary, when those tasks do not interfere with the Technical Directors other duties. Work schedule will include days, evenings and weekends. Position requires valid driver’s license and ability to drive a box truck. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results. 5+ years of experience with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment. Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Experience Preferred:
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Technology. Three (3) years of professional or college level theatre employment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of production management, set design and construction is preferred. Knowledge of theatrical carpentry and installation required along with theatrical rigging and welding. Must have prior knowledge of hand drafting, rigging, AutoCAD or Vector works and Microsoft Office.
