Description Position Title: Asst Dir Intl Programming-ISA – 994557 Position Overview: Coordinates and execute specific activities, programs, and services for student organizations, student leadership programs and other campus activities. Provide information and resources for students, parents, and University staff related to campus programming. Participate in program development and make recommendations. Prepare and review expenditures related to department and fee-funded group budgets. Promote safety and compliance in activities.Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Designs, implements, and evaluates international activities and programs with the Director of Global Learning that enhance personal, social, academic effectiveness, and leadership development. Responsible for the development and delivery of international activities and events involving committees, interaction with and advisement of student organization, arranging facilities, monitoring student activities budgets, and promoting and sponsoring activities. Serves as an advisor to the International Student Council, Broncho Buddies and Global Leadership Ambassadors. Provides leadership for the development and delivery of five Centre for Global Competency flagship programs: Broncho Buddies, Broncho Cousins, CRISP, SPICE and IGNITE! Develops and maintains strong relationships with community and civic organizations which may assist in the advancement of international activities, especially CRISP and IGNITE! Works with UCO professors to connect MERGE (Making Experiential Research Globally Engaging) scholars to classrooms and develops global class projects. Must keep an ongoing process of collaboration with professors and communication with students. Works with international student organizations to ensure that their programs are meeting the needs and interest of UCO students. Plan campus-wide events, which provide opportunities for international students to present their culture to the UCO and Edmond community at large. Serves as liaison for connecting international students to activities and programs of other offices, such as domestic student organizations, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Community Engagement, Student Engagement, etc. Assists the Director for the Centre for Global Competency in advising students interested in CGC activities or programs and planning events. Responsible for entries and participation in the Fourth of July parade, planning the F1 international graduation banquet/J1 completion ceremony every fall and spring semester, and coordinating trip for international students annually. Assists student employees and student organizations with purchasing materials for intercultural events. Coordinates American holiday experiences for international studies. Responsible for coordinating the logistics of connecting international students with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals hosted by community members within the Edmond/Oklahoma City area. Keeps record of student participation for the Director of International Affairs scholarship requirements.
Welcome Week/Orientation Oversee and update all components of the Forge International Online Pre-Departure Orientation modules for all undergraduate and graduate students. Responsible for the delivery of Forge International Student Orientation in the fall and spring semesters. Coordinate airport pickups of all incoming new international students at the beginning of each semester.
Some evening and weekend activities will be required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required night and weekend availability during fall and spring rush weeks.
The Assistant Director of International Programming is assigned to the Executive Director of the Office of Global Affairs in the Division of Enrollment of Student Success but is also a member of the Centre for Global Competency, a joint initiative of the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Enrollment and Student Success. The Assistant Director of International Programming reports to the Executive Director of the Office of Global Affairs and the Director of Global Learning in the Centre for Global Competency. The Executive Director for the Office of Global Affairs and the Director of Global Learning will also share responsibility for the evaluation of the Assistant Director of International Programming and for the completion of the Assistant Director’s annual performance evaluation. The Executive Director of the Office of Global Affairs will have the final say in all matters when necessary. The Assistant Director of International Programming will also be responsible for the supervision of student employees.
Qualifications/Experience Required:Requires a bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3 years of relevant experience or 10+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.Qualifications/Experience Preferred:Completion of an engaging experience in a foreign country, preferably study abroad. Experience in developing and implementing educational, social, or cultural programs. Background in budget management. Proven proficiency in giving promotional presentations. Demonstrated service to the local community. Collaboration with at least one on-campus and one off-campus organization.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Some working knowledge of at least one other language besides English. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, public relations, and organizational skills. Computer proficiency preferably in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, handles multiple tasks simultaneously, and interacts professionally with all segments of the University community. Ability to maintain confidentially.
