The Opportunity:
UCF is seeking to hire three (3) Custodial Specialist II positions: P-56998, P-56999, and P-57000. The Custodial Specialist II position is responsible for, but not limited to, supporting the maintenance and cleanliness of campus buildings, in an effort to provide a safe, functional, efficient, and clean environment. The scope of this position requires fulfillment of project work orders but will also support routine work. This position will specialize in deep project cleaning, hard floor care, pressure washing, and carpet care.
Responsibilities:
Maintain floor care, pressure washing, and specialized project assignments. Complete cleaning projects as assigned and in accordance with the unit process guide. Obtain appropriate supplies and equipment to support the project. (e.g., specialized floor cleaning skills, for hard floors or carpeted areas).
Perform routine cleaning of assigned spaces to cleanliness standards. Complete work assigned and support zone coordination for the completion of routine cleaning and restorative projects; ensuring that all work is done properly and adheres to industry sanitation practices.
Create and submit work requests to address any deficient work noted during inspections, or as noted during routine work.
Manage inventory and stock supplies within the assigned zone. Support the efficient operation of equipment and supplies by reporting inventory needs.
Support the Custodial Specialist III by assisting in the execution of coordinating all zone tasks, duties, and staff assignments. Assist in training zone employees on Standard Operating Procedures, equipment usage, and proper unit safety.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 9th grade and 2+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to comprehend reports, inspections, and documentation pertinent to the unit.
Ability to use small and large floor equipment for carpet and hard floor care; tools required for routine tasks (e.g., mop, mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.).
Ability to delegate, train, coach, lead, motivate, and ensure cohesiveness in a diverse work environment.
Demonstrated ability to ensure that work productivity and service meet UCF quality assurance standards.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and address sensitive matters appropriately and efficiently.
Experience managing and sustaining accurate inventory.
Flexible for utilization by trade with most urgent requirements.
Strong communication skills in English in order to work effectively with customers and team members; operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment (e.g., telecommunication devices, iPod touch for IWMS PM checkpoints); comprehend and communicate standard safety procedures, guidelines, regulations and policies.
Ability to comprehend safety for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) approved chemicals for daily cleaning of restrooms, floors, and surfaces, and use approved chemicals, in addition to EHS-approved chemicals for restorative floor maintenance.
Working knowledge of trades classifications and functions including tools, materials, and task-specific sequencing required for maintenance, sanitation, and repairs.

The UCF policy requires the completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
This position is eligible for a 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
The position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
