Florida Solar Energy Center
The Florida Solar Energy Center engages in research, education, and training in the field of energy efficiency, solar energy, and related sustainable and clean energy technologies. The K-12 Energy Education program provides Florida’s teachers and students with the tools and resources to become knowledgeable about these technologies to help create a sustainable energy future. Activities include teacher workshops, curriculum development, and events that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge through hands-on project demonstrations.
The Opportunity:
Academic Support Coordinator II supports the K-12 energy education and workforce training programs at FSEC. This includes administrative and instructional support for professional development programs for educators and workforce training for practitioners. Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills are necessary to succeed in this role. Also, previous experience supporting grant and proposal preparation and administration. Some statewide travel is anticipated to conduct K-12 student and/or teacher educational activities.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate energy education program activities, including staff assignments.
Assist in the design of instructional materials and activities.
Participate in meetings with internal staff and external stakeholders.
Collect data for measuring program progress and achievement of milestones.
Prepare program and contract reports for review and approval by project team leads.
Maintain records of energy education and workforce training participants, including programs completed and credentials earned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field or STEM education.
Three or more years of experience with administrative support of instructional programs /coordinating education and outreach events and training in an educational, governmental, or nonprofit environment.
Experience planning and executing of public events, such as workshops, seminars, expositions, and conferences.
Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers, students and teachers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work on multiple projects.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
