Information Technology positions are responsible for the security of UC Institutional Information and IT Resources. The incumbent is required to follow all applicable information security policies, procedures, and standards to maintain minimum standards of information security for data, systems and applications. Supervisors are responsible for making sure their staff have appropriate security skills and qualifications, and complete all appropriate and required security training.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Media Technology Unit, the incumbent designs, fabricates, installs, maintains, repairs, and calibrates complex automated television and audio/video electronic media systems and devices installed throughout the UCSC campus in general assignment classrooms, videoconference, and distance education facilities, the cable and IPTV television systems and similar installations. The incumbent also leads the design and installation of such facilities, drawing on expertise in audio, video, and IT engineering to design creative, effective systems that address the specific needs of clients. This includes researching emerging technologies, components, and practices, evaluating them for their suitability to given tasks, and adapting them to the tasks at hand.
The incumbent serves frequently as a technical leader in a team environment, prioritizing and assigning work to other engineers, striving to provide outstanding customer service in a timely fashion, and communicating regularly and effectively with customers, stakeholders, and colleagues.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $40.13 – $43.78/hour. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.
