Job Summary
Involves oversight of the following key areas/applications:
As Manager for the above applications, the incumbent has the overall responsibility for design/testing/deployment, planning, and ongoing maintenance of those applications and the relevant interfaces. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall design/implementation, ongoing support, and strategic planning for the applications/teams to support UCSF Health’s operations and new initiatives. The incumbent will foster and guide IT-enabled transformation initiatives to ensure application/data integrity while incorporating leading-edge technology/functionality to support the organization.
The incumbent will lead the effort to review new releases of clinical software for enhancements to determine the impact on UCSF Health’s care delivery operations and develop a plan for implementation with operational partners. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the direct reports of UCSF Health Lab and Infection Control department leadership, as well as APeX Provider and Nursing leadership to define UCSF’s clinical applications strategic plan and develop and manage resources/budget to meet short and long-term objectives and establish/manage overall clinical application governance framework. The incumbent will report to the Director of APeX Orders and Ancillary Applications.
The incumbent is also responsible for the overall recruitment and retention of clinical applications staff, ensuring appropriate candidates are sourced in a timely manner to support project work in addition to daily operations. Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Clinical Applications Team is responsible for designing, testing, and implementing the clinical aspects of UCSF’s Electronic Health Record. This includes interoperability with other third-party systems and devices.
