DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the supervising physician(s)
and APP supervisor and in collaboration with other care team members, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides patient care primarily in the
outpatient setting in support of the Orthopaedic Spine Division. Position may also provide patient care of Orthopaedic patients in the
inpatient setting for multiple Orthopaedic subspecialties. The NP exercises flexibility and adaptability to manage a broad range of medical
and surgical conditions. Because the spectrum of Orthopaedic Surgery encompasses many organ systems, the incumbent must be knowledgeable
about a wide range of pathophysiology as well as how the injuries sustained or surgical cases should be prioritized.
The NP will
provide clinical and surgical assistance and support in managing inpatients and outpatients, including assisting with patient evaluations,
history and physical, patient preparation, consults, and/or discharge preparation and within their scope of practice and management.
Position is responsible for providing routine care within established protocols and is directly responsible for managing the health care
needs of the identified patient population. Position demonstrates the ability to solve complex clinical problems and communicate directly
with the supervising Orthopaedic physicians. Provide patient education and assist with clinical research protocols.
Function as
liaison with health system personnel including case management coordinators, financial counselors and social workers. Assist in data
collection, input and analysis. Position demonstrates a high level of professionalism and excellent verbal and written communication skills
and has the ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team, including morning rounds with residents and interns. May assist with
surgeries as time permits. May do other duties as assigned.
