Position Description:
The Office of Research Data Management (ORDM) is part of the Office of Research Administration (ORA). ORDM supports the maintenance of the institutional record of proposal and award data for sponsored activities, including 6,000 proposal records and over 6,500 active awards totaling over $1 billion annually. ORDM provides services to and shares data stewardship responsibilities with the Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA), Extramural Fund Management (EFM), Clinical Trials Contracts & Strategic Relations Office (CTC&SR), and the Technology Development Group (TDG). ORDM ensures data integrity and consistent collection and update of essential financial, compliance and administrative information throughout the life cycle of a contract or grant. ORDM is also responsible for setting up research fund accounts in the campus financial system in order to make contract and grant funding available to Principal Investigators. Under the direction of the ORDM Manager, the Research Data Specialist primary responsibilities include: 1) Perform data capture for a high volume of contract and grant proposal and award information in the Proposal and Award Tracking System (PATS) to support delivery of accurate data to the campus research community and to facilitate ad-hoc reporting; 2) Review and analyze contract and grant source materials to determine and establish proper fund assignment, link funds to expense accounts and establish budget appropriations in the UCLA Financial System; and 3) Post the Award Snapshot document for access and download by Principal Investigators and Research Administrators that contains relevant award information.
