Position Description:
This position will serve as a key staff-level leader of research administration in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering. The primary responsibility is to help grow and enhance the school’s research output by implementing a systems approach to research administration that coordinates the work of principal investigators (PIs) and administrators appointed in departments and units with a focus on continual process assessment and improvement, training and development, and problem-prevention related to the administration of research proposals and awards. An additional significant responsibility is to directly contribute to research proposals and required white papers for large-scale research centers and complex multi-investigator initiatives. The goal is to make the process of submitting such proposals simpler for investigators by performing and/or overseeing the majority of the non-scientific/non-technical work associated with proposal preparation. In addition, the position will assist in the full range of front-line pre- and post-award research administration duties during times when school positions are vacant or when loads spike.
