Position Description:
As one of four academic divisions within UCLA College, the Division of Physical Sciences is the engine for real-world advances in the physical sciences that positively affect our lives, the world and universe around us. When you join us as our Associate Director of Development, your fundraising skills and strategic engagement abilities will make a significant impact in our ability to raise the funds that enable the Division to maintain UCLA’s position as a world leader in the physical sciences and perform research that speeds the pace of discovery, for the benefit of all society. We seek an Associate Director of Development with experience, self-confidence and initiative to raise funds that keep our initiatives in motion. We are committed to creating positive relationships and experiences for our donors, faculty, staff and alumni. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development for Physical Sciences, as an Associate Director, you will identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects for the Physical Sciences division. You will engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage to development programs and to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary; meet with faculty in priority areas and gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise; and represent the College and its divisions to the broader community. As an Associate Director, you will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in the College and External Affairs; use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to academic priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers and donors designed to identify new prospective donors for private support; identify a core group of prospective donors for major gifts; and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool at various stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation. In consultation with the Executive Director and other Directors of Development, you will strategically plan, prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations. We invite you to be part of our dynamic, collaborative and innovative team that offers long-term opportunities for professional development as part of a robust External Affairs enterprise serving UCLA.
