Department Purpose
Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 200 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), IACS (International Accreditation for Counseling Services), and APA (American Psychological Association). SHCS mental health staff are an educationally diverse group of licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, masters therapists, and pre-and post-doctoral trainees, dedicated to providing student-centered mental health services, advocacy, outreach, and consultation to promote psychological well-being and academic success. Counseling services are offered at no cost to registered students.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Counseling Services (CS) Director of Academic Satellites at Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS), this position performs professional patient/client care (individual, partner, group, crisis intervention, and case management) for primarily students enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES). Consults with faculty and staff on issues relevant to student educational performance and emotional well-being. Works with CAES to coordinate mental health and wellness services and programming. Provides campus programs on education, multicultural concerns and prevention, may provide supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Complies with professional requirements of SHCS and UC Davis policies and procedures as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements.
