Summary of Job Duties:The Research Technician will report directly to Principal Investigator Dr Katie Ryan in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The applicant will be responsible for performing standard molecular biology techniques, cell culture, general laboratory maintenance, and performing experiments as requested by the supervisor. The Research Technician position will focus on understanding how the Rho GTPase, Rnd3, regulates cellular migration in both breast and lung cancer. This position will use both cell based assays and proteomic approaches to identify key regulatory elements involved in Rnd3 signaling.Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED plus one (1) year of experience performing tests in a research laboratory required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient to work with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques or be able to use R or Python to analyze biological data sets.
Willing to learn new skills and techniques.
Able to keep organized laboratory records and notes.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills and computer proficiency.
Highly organized, flexible, and motivated.
Experience in cell culture, Western Blots, PCR, Flow Cytometry, and microscopy preferred.
Responsibilities:
Performing research experiments, keeping experimental records.
Performs research experiments including cell culture, migration assays, Western Blots, PCR, Flow Cytometry, and microscopy work.
Keeps descriptive and accurate records of all experiments performed, data entry and analysis.
Placing orders (obtaining quotes, filling and submitting ordering forms, tracking order status and receiving orders).
Maintaining records of laboratory inventories (reagents and supplies).
Train new employees and/or students in basic laboratory techniques.
Overseeing staff compliance with the University, State and Federal guidelines for the safe operation of a laboratory.
Performing related responsibilities as assigned.

$31,200 or $15.00/hr.
