In both cases, area of specialization is less important than research excellence.

The Department of Psychology at Union College, Schenectady, New York, seeks two excellent scholars specializing in one (or both) of the following areas:
Our new colleagues will offer courses at a variety of levels, including content courses and senior seminars in their area of expertise. An ability to teach statistics and introductory psychology would also be helpful, as would the ability to provide a psychological or neuroscientific perspective on topics that contribute to the College’s General Education curriculum, including courses that contribute to students’ understanding of and appreciation for Global Challenges and Justice, Equity, Identity, and Difference.
We expect that our new colleagues will establish and maintain high-quality research programs that involve our undergraduate students. PhD by appointment date preferred. The College and department provide outstanding research support, including generous startup funds, ongoing internal funding opportunities for both faculty and student research. Shared departmental resources include brand-new EEG and eye-tracking equipment that allow for simultaneous data acquisition.
Union College recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies. The Psychology department currently provides support for the Gender Sexuality and Women’s Studies and Neuroscience programs. Although all candidates specializing in Cognitive Neuroscience and Personality/Social Psychology encouraged to apply, those who can support any Interdisciplinary Studies programs including those listed above, especially those with community-engagement interests (e.g., Africana Studies) are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching load is two courses per ten-week trimester.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-82,000, commensurate with experience.
