The Moores Cancer Center (MCC) is one of just 53 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States and the only one in San Diego County. The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at UCSD’s Moores Cancer Center administers many clinical trials on behalf of its member investigators, including trials sponsored by National Cancer Institute cooperative groups, pharmaceutical companies, and physician investigators.
Working with Clinical Operations and/or Quality Assurance and Compliance leadership, the Training and Education Specialist will apply knowledge of oncology clinical trials operations to develop engaging educational programs and tools / resources to set CTO employees and faculty up for success in ongoing clinical trials operations.
The Training and Education Specialist will be the face of the MCC CTO to all incoming team members and faculty on clinical trial standards and expectations. This role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of onboarding and ongoing training programs for CTO staff and faculty. Their focus is ensuring MCC CTO employees and faculty are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to effectively execute clinical research activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.
Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.
Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.
Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.
Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a diverse population. Demonstrated intercultural skills, including the ability to adapt to the needs and skillsets of learners.
Knowledge of clinical research coordination in an oncology setting.
Strong experience providing in-service training to various research personnel on protocols, processes, and procedures.
Proven ability to find creative and innovative solutions to adjusting needs of the center. Ability to be resourceful and to understand the overall nature of work/responsibilities to establish useful resources and University contacts.
Experience in developing and implementing training and education strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in related area.
Two (2) years of prior experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) and in clinical trial operations.
Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin or Cantonese
Prior experience in developing and implementing strategies for diversity and inclusion in clinical research.
Knowledgeable about subject research FDA expectations.
Strong knowledge of University policies.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 – $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 – $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
