DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
UC San Diego Housing, Dining and Hospitality provides housing and dining services for approximately 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students and their families in more than 400 buildings, covering nearly 10 million square feet. Consisting of eight divisions, HDH has more than 1,000 career employees, 1,200 to 1,300 student employees, and an annual operating budget greater than $250 million.
HDH is a self-supporting department that operates without any federal, state or campus funding. The department receives nearly 90% of its funding from housing and dining services. It also secures revenue from conference and catering services. The goal is to break even.
HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan that will added 10,000 new beds in the next 10 years and will almost double our square footage by 2032.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Recruitment Team Supervisor, the Recruitment Specialist is responsible for human resources administration for both staff and student employees. Responsibilities primarily deal with the coordination of the full recruitment process, however, other areas include employee relations, providing guidance and assistance to managers, supervisors, staff and job applicants on employment practices and policies. This position manages records by establishing standards and creating systems for security and organization. Consult with managers, supervisors and leads on organizational issues. Provides training to career staff. Completes special projects as requested by Sr. Human Resources Manager. Maintains strict confidentiality.
Uses professional employment and staffing techniques and concepts for employment, sourcing programs, and policies for the organization. Employment and search efforts are of moderate scope and complexity. Works on staffing / employment for skilled operational and technical and professional level positions. Normally receives general direction on staffing and employment assignments, with more detailed direction provided on new or more specialized and complex assignments. Exercises judgment within defined staffing and employment procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Works with internal and external contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of HR processes and forms and knows organizational and departmental principles and procedures.
Experience in recruitment, screening, interviewing and referral processes.
Experience managing a broad scope of complex personnel and related functions including but not limited to recruitment, selection, benefits administration, and diversity.
Knowledge of employment law.
Knowledge of common software used within employment and other areas of HR, and how they work together.
Ability to interpret and apply UCSD policy and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as active listening and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated abilities associated with problem identification; reasoning; ability to work with business units in the development of ideas to solve staffing issues.
Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
Computer knowledge and skill to use e-mail, word processing, data base management and spreadsheet software applications and web browsers, preferably Word, Windows, Excel, and Access.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects that require the independently planning, organizing and prioritizing daily operations and projects in order to meet deadlines.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
Variable schedule to include occasional overtime and weekends to meet heavy workload periods.
Valid CA Driver License and good driving record.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 – $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 – $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
