DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Human Resources includes Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Administration, Business and Fiscal Operations, and seven functional domains: Talent Solutions; People Programs and Rewards; HR Strategy and Policy; People Support; Organization Effectiveness; Data, Systems and Processes; and Strategic Consulting, Assessments and Analytics.
Organization Effectiveness is the domain of Campus Human Resources that includes the Communications and Engagement, Knowledge Management, Organizational Development and Staff Learning and Development functions. This area is responsible for helping frame and drive the CHRO’s strategy within HR and across campus, planning and leading organizational transformation, ensuring that employees have the knowledge skills needed to operate effectively and efficiently, developing highly effective leaders, supporting change management strategies, creating a knowledge management ecosystem for staff, developing and deploying communications strategy and tools for the staff audience, and supporting staff engagement within HR and across campus.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Director, Organization Effectiveness, with a dotted line report to the HR Strategic Communication and Engagement Manager in Campus Human Resources, the HR Digital Communications Specialist works directly with internal and external clients across campus to update and create content in Blink, the Services & Support Knowledge Base, and other content portals using the campus Content Management System (CMS). This includes demonstrating the features and capabilities of Blink and the campus CMS, working with subject matter experts to migrate, organize, and edit content in Blink and other sites, and setting and maintaining standards for content style, accuracy, and readability. The incumbent will develop and execute a roadmap to design and implement a new site architecture and engagement strategy for a comprehensive revamp of UC San Diego Human Resources’ website (Blink) presence. The redesigned pages will center engagement content in support of the UC San Diego People Proposition and the employee experience, and will feature a strategic architecture and navigation to provide improved UX.
The role demonstrates a keen understanding of web development, user experience and engagement strategies, content management systems, and HR practices, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. The HR Digital Communications Specialist has proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and web analytics tools along with knowledge of HTML, CSS, content management systems, user-centered design, and accessibility and web design principles. This role has an analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights, project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, and a demonstrated creativity and a passion for driving innovation in web content and user engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related area or an equivalent combination of experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
Thorough knowledge of content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for web production and organization-specific computer application programs.
Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization’s message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
Thorough understanding of processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications.
Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
Thorough interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 – $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 – $59.53
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
