DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Student Health & Well-Being (SHW) cluster is to promote a culture of health and well-being for the student community, deliver equitable high quality innovative services, incorporate inclusive approaches, and celebrate diversity, with the goal of adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors contributing to the academic success and personal development of all students.
The Student Health and Well-being (SHW) cluster of the UC San Diego Health System plays a leadership role in creating a strong and active wellness culture at UC San Diego that enables all students to flourish in body, mind and spirit. This includes promotion and the expansion/development of a student health and well-being center, and the transformation of existing departments, under the oversight of the executive director, into a cohesive, trans-disciplinary source of integrated wellness services. The SHW cluster includes the departments of Student Health Services (SHS), Health Promotion Services (HPS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and SHW Administration. Medical care, clinical and mental health, and health education services are provided to over 43,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Finance and Business Operations, the Administrative and Business Officer is responsible for administrative and financial management of the SHW Cluster projects and reports, including creating and maintaining staffing and recruitment reports, overseeing contract and grant proposals, managing and maintaining inventory log. Coordinates and facilitates human resources activities including oversight of departmental on-boarding and separation processes, tracking of per diem and overtime hours worked, review and analysis of union wage adjustments. Uses spreadsheets and databases to interpret and organize information; provides customized reports and other information that are used to assess departmental needs. Troubleshoots and resolves operational, business, and administrative issues. Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of the SHW cluster with limited scope. Perform short- and long-term planning for SHW. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
CT: Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of a small to mid-sized academic or non-academic department or organizational unit with limited scope. May report to a chair, director, or a higher level administrativeoperations professional or manager. Perform short- and long-term planning for the organization. May supervise staff or students. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience.
Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and other systems used in behavioral health centers / clinics. Demonstrated experience and competency with standard business equipment, computer technologies and a variety of software including system and networking software, Microsoft Office suite, email and a variety of web-based programs and browsers, with the willingness and ability to update and increase skills as needed to meet the goals of SHW.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Ability to use discretion, maintain utmost confidentiality and comply with all requirements in use of computer systems and access to any and all patient, student, employee and University data, in electronic and hard copy formats, in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines, including, but not limited to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 – $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 – $59.53
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
