This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.
DESCRIPTION
This position has a broad scope in financial and resource planning in addition to Health Sciences faculty compensation management. Serves as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge and independence. Lead faculty compensation and perform financial reporting for faculty and non-faculty researchers; support Teaching and Research Discipline portfolios, self-supporting activities, programmatic activities, residencies; and manage UC Path labor and Oracle financial ledger reconciliation.
Uses advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Advanced degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for Professional School financial operations, budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $71,000 – $160,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $34.00 – $76.63
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
