Responsibility The Production Manager reports to GM and sits on the Management Team of Troutlodge, with responsibility for all aspects of stock production and reporting on farms owned or leased by Troutlodge.
Objectives: To establish and develop a full production plan for both brood and sales fish, including desired growth rates, feed use and stocking density for all farms.
To utilize this plan in monthly reporting against budget, and as a method of forecasting egg take and availability.
To develop site leads and managers to a level of autonomy which effectively supports the role of Production Manager.
To operate the farms within budgeted expenditure, and to levels of fish health and biosecurity as dictated by reviewed fish health program and redeveloped “Troutlodge Way”.
Responsibilities: Directly responsible for broodstock, egg and fingerling production on all Troutlodge facilities, with site managers and responsible persons for each site / region as direct reports.
Oversee the review and implementation of The Troutlodge Way as a full active SOP bank, and systems to ensure compliance and annual review. TTW to be used as standardization tool between facilities and regions, and to include H&S and stock risk assessments.
Devise detailed production plan on annual basis which will deliver previously agreed egg targets and allow for monthly reporting against plan for all brood and fingerling groups.
Appoint, train and develop staff to fill site management roles which support Production Manager’s role.
Ensure that maintenance schedules for all plant are established and processes in place for maintenance to be undertaken and recorded
Ensuring that company owned properties are maintained to a suitable standard
With the assistance of QMS and Compliance co-ordinator, maintain and update necessary regulatory operating permits, licenses and discharge/abstraction consents.
Assist with development of increasing capacity, where available, and oversee project work.
Ensure that emergency procedures and monitoring systems are in place to protect stock on all facilities.
Responsible for risk assessment (for human accidents as well as stock welfare) of facilities and operations as well as implementation of effective control measures.
Assist in the development of additional or alternative production strategies to allow for increased or smoothing of production cycles
Review accreditation systems, current and achievable.
Reporting Procedures Reports to GM, Troutlodge.
Weekly summary of farm operations and activities verbally to GM
Detailed monthly report comparing actual figures to plan, and restorative action plan to be submitted by 3rd of following month. Power point summary to be delivered at management meeting.
Annual preparation of production plan, and assistance in preparation of operations budget.
Staffing In conjunction with GM and Controller, introduce and implement HG standard HR policies
Develop system of production task identification and matrix of which posts require training in each of those tasks, as well as a system of recording this training.
Stock Develop appropriate stock recording and management systems applicable across all production sites
Ensure immediate detailed inventories of all stocks and establish routine stock control systems
Complete risk assessments on the following for all operations:
Biosecurity
Stock security
Sales and Marketing Represent the company as technical support at trade shows as necessary
Develop good relationships with customers in all market areas.
Support TL Inc. in any sales visits, trade missions or after sales issues.
Liaise with sales team in developments and initiatives to aid the consistency of supply on a week to week basis throughout the year.
PR Maintain good relations with relevant state and federal regulatory authorities and research bodies
Develop local community relations and raise positive profile of operations.
Develop and implement a programme of positive news feeds for local and national media
Fully utilise Oxygen intranet, and target 4 articles of interest for submission throughout the year.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
