Overview

TRC is looking for an experienced Claim Specialist to join our Corporate Safety Department.

The primary role of the Claim Specialist is to facilitate TRC’s Incident Management Program. This role will also assist with providing safety support to TRC’s operating sectors.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the company’s internal incident notification reports (Safety Reporting System and WorkCare) to ensure all incidents are managed in accordance with TRC’s Incident Management Process.
• Make initial contact with injured employees to assess severity and status of medical treatment.
• Facilitate the incident investigation process and verify applicable personnel have gathered and submitted their data.
• Verify root cause, corrective actions, and lessons learned are developed in accordance with TRC’s Incident Management Program.
• Work closely with employees, supervisors, and safety network to manage the incident investigation process.
• Coordinate with TRC’s workers’ compensation insurer, medical providers, employees, and supervisors to promote modified duty and return to work process, when appropriate.
• Submit workers’ compensation claims to TRC’s insurer as needed.
• Communicate with insurance claim examiner, employee and supervision to maintain status of injured employee’s medical treatment and work status.
• Work with TRC’s Human Resources Department to coordinate benefits.
• Assist with trending incident metrics to promote continual improvement.
• Provide safety support to operations through hazard assessments and risk mitigation methods.

Qualifications

• Experience managing workers’ compensation claims.
• Basic understanding of occupational health and safety.
• Knowledgeable in workers’ compensation and medical processes.
• Able to speak with doctors and injured workers.
• Skilled in multi-tasking.
• Strong communicator and personable.
• Capable of using Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
• Communicate effectively with staff in all US Time Regions, as necessary.
• Ability to respond to significant incident calls, as needed, outside normal business hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications are not required for an applicant to be considered a candidate for the position.

• CPCU, AIC or ARM preferred but not required.
• Experience in the medical and/or insurance industry is preferred but not required.
