Summary
Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization:

• Perform managerial duties under the direction of the director and manager
• Lead, or co-lead small and large group activities that promote positive physical, cognitive and social-‐emotional development
• Assist with the operations of Tiger Tots Childcare and Preschool and in maintaining a clean learning environment
• Successful functioning in this position contributes directly to the overall Tiger Tot’s mission of providing the best possible care and education for children.

Reports To: Tiger Tots Daycare Director

Position: Full Time (approx. 30-40 hours/week )

Key Responsibilities:
Childcare:

• Provide quality care for children enrolled in the program by supporting a planned curriculum, a loving and respectful climate, and a safe, nurturing environment
• Assist in the supervision of child activity centers inside and outside

Activities of Daily Schedule:

• Work cooperatively with children, families, staff, volunteers, and other personnel to ensure a professional, competent program
• Lead or co-‐lead activities that promote academic, social-‐emotional or physical growth

Reliable Attendance:

• Shows up on time for report and ready to work for all shifts
• Limits short-‐notice absences to rare occasions and requests time off with advanced notice
• Works consistently and remains engaged throughout the entire work shift

Professional Responsibilities:

• Attends all staff meetings and professional development opportunities as necessary
• Protects and upholds staff, student and client confidentiality
• Maintains all trainings as required

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Education, Experience and Training:

• Experience in an early-‐childhood or elementary setting (at least 1 year)
• Must be CPR and First Aid certified or willing to achieve
• Must be able to read, speak and write fluently in English
• Must have experience working with children and families and possess a strong knowledge of early child development
• Must be/become a Mandatory Reporter through the state of Iowa
• Must be able to pass a SING Child Abuse background check

Scheduling:

• Regular attendance and punctuality is required
• Must be able to work Monday-‐Friday, maintaining full time hours
• Must have reliable transportation

Mental Demands:

• Must demonstrate effective communication skills with staff, children and families; must be able to communicate information and work to meet the needs of children and families
• Must be able to do many different functions, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
• Must be able to work under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations
• Must be able to work in situations requiring staying within an exact set of limits, tolerances, or standards

Physical Demands:

• Sit, Walk, Stand: Approximately 90% of the shift is spent walking and standing, alternating between the two activities, when performing the essential duties of this job. Approximately 10% of an average work shift is spent sitting. This is time spent assisting children, etc. Time spent performing these physical activities varies daily according to scheduling demands and student needs.
• Lift, Carry: This individual must be involved with students on a regular basis. This may include physically assisting children. The strength required to perform these duties varies with the weight and condition of each child. Physical exertion

requirements can vary from 20-‐60 lbs. All lifting, carrying or other physical exertion will be done in a manner that conforms to good health.

• Bend, Stoop, Squat, Kneel, Crouch, Crawl: Individual may frequently need to bend, stoop and squat throughout the shift, according to children’s daily activities and needs.
• See and Hear: Must have adequate visual and auditory abilities allowing for immediate and accurate response to children’s needs and communication with others.

Work Environment:

• Woks in a well-‐illuminated, climate-‐controlled environment (indoor). Will sometimes work outdoors for short periods based on programming needs.
• Possibility exists of exposure to communicable diseases.
• Involvement in childcare may result in the unavoidable work-‐related illness or injury.
