Job Description:
Work involves providing support for, and
contributing to, NIH-funded research projects focused on understanding the role of the brain in the development of
and treatment of chronic pain using in vitro models and in vivo animal models. This position blends administrative and research
responsibilities, requiring effective communication, reliable organizational skills, and attention to detail. Qualified candidates will
demonstrate initiative and adaptability in both independent and collaborative work.
Research experience in a laboratory
setting is required; additional management experience (scientific or otherwise) is preferred. Assignments and work evaluation will be
received from the professor/grant administrator (Principal Investigator), Dr. Benedict Kolber (www.kolberlab.com).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic
sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services
environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Preferred experience may include but is not limited to
knowledge of basic laboratory techniques; ability to follow experimental procedures and to report results accurately; ability to keep an
inventory of materials and equipment, requisition supplies, and maintain purchasing documentation; ability to use laboratory materials and
equipment properly to assure the validity of results and preserve a safe working environment; ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with faculty, staff, and students; knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals
and materials; and knowledge of computer applications used to record, analyze, and report findings.
